Winter fuel

As the evenings draw in and the temperature drops, it becomes a little trickier to maintain that healthy lifestyle that comes to us so much easier in the summer months. Just leaving the cosiness of the fireside can be a hurdle!

Still, it’s important to keep well-nourished for warmth and to keep both immune system and mood levels up – to help keep chills at bay!

Try these tips for healthy winter eating:

  • Some of the cheaper cuts of beef make brilliant stews and casseroles. By adding split peas, lentils or beans and any number of vegetables you can turn them into a comforting meal.
  • Make double the amount of stew/bolognaise/casserole/pasta sauce and freeze to save for quick meals on cold evenings.
  • Less sunshine can affect some peoples’ mood. Boost yours by adding healthy carbohydrates in the form of root veg and whole grains to your winter beef dishes.
